Tattoo heaven

Huz Tats has a few new releases in store tonight which I have fallen in love with. A new addition to the henna series is always a warm welcome. Hunain Bellic’s henna tattoos are amongst my favorites on the grid.

Pictured above is the new henna tattoo called Henna Secret. I was also wearing the India silk from one of my favorite silk stores, Solange, while I was taking a lovely little nap on the shabby chic daybed which is from the m.fox collection at The Loft. The pose is from the new release from Diesel Works called Momo.

Modern Kanji

Out of Hunain’s whole Kanji series, this one appeals to me most cuz of it’s simplicity. It’s very feminine, I adore it. Unfortunately he hasn’t released it yet, but it will be out very very soon, I promise. The cute and inexpensive bikini is by the sophisticated and sexy Sysy Chapman of Sysy’s. The pose is from my one of my favorite pose sets at Long Awkward Pose, called Dog Eat Dog World (doncha just love Dove’s quirky names for her poses? ) And finally, just LOOK at my nails in that pic. Dutch Touch skins have the best hands on the grid, hands down! And that of course is my fav Forest skin by Iki Ikarus. <3

Hazard

I know the old ball and chain is prolly gonna divorce me after this pic but here it is anyways! This is the new tribal tattoo called Hazard, which is definitely fun to wear; I paired it up with the sexy new honk shirt from BOOM. Although I must admit, Rylan’s boobs look much better in that shirt than mine do. The shorts are from Naive and the pose is another one from the momo set at Diesel Works.

Mystic Sky

Befitting its name, floating up high, Mystic Sky is a beautiful new store by Skyler John full of enchanting Medieval gowns.

I had an opportunity to throw a few questions towards designer Skyler John so she can share a bit of herself with us.

Strawberry Singh: I see you have been a resident since August 2007, is this your first time designing?
Skyler John: This is my first time designing ‘clothing’. I also design furniture.

Strawberry Singh: Are your designs hand drawn?
Skyler John: My designs are I would say 96% hand drawn and all are original designs. I’m very picky with the textures that I create, I like them to have depth and to feel real.

Strawberry Singh: Do you have a creative background or any graphic design experience?
Skyler John: yes I do. I went to school for graphic design, photography and printing. I have a fond love of graphics, sl is the perfect creative outlet.

Strawberry Singh: So what inspired you to create these wonderful medieval designs?
Skyler John: Well I enjoy Medeival roleplay. I was searching for different gowns to wear and found some beautiful ones but not many which didnt give much of a choice. So I decided to try designing a gown. I wanted to make it feel real and dramatic so I worked on the wrinkles (smiles), the Ella gown was my first. After that I got really excited and decided to keep going.

Strawberry Singh: I’m glad you did, they are very pretty.
Skyler John: I just like doing this alot and I really enjoy seeing people wear them.

Mystic Sky’s official grand opening was last night and Skyler has opened up with a big bang! She has a wide variety of gowns already on display, along with an adorable fairy outfit. The current lucky chair gown is the Ella Gown in Lavendar and she has a a freebie flower headdress to match the gown on the front table.

My favorite face!

No, it’s not my own face that’s my favorite, but in fact it is the face of the new skin “Forest” by Iki Ikarus of Dutch Touch. As soon as I put this skin on, I absolutely fell in love with the face. No skin has ever struck me like this before.

Each makeup comes with two brow options: black and brown, two options for lips and also two options for pubes: shaved and not shaved. I normally don’t blog skins, but this one has become one of my most favorites. I’m also in love with the hands. They are sheer perfection, the nails are just spectacular.

Lazy Florida Friday

Betcha can’t say the title ten times fast! It was a beautiful day today in Florida, I spent the afternoon doing something very similar. I <3 the summer.

Berry’s Favorite Things – 11

Today’s installment of Berry’s Favorite Things took me back to the old days of my SL. I also had to dig deep in my inventory for some of these items, which till this day still remain amongst some of my fav things.

Now for my first favorite; as you may already know, my first official job on SL was as a belly dancer/hostess at Club Habibi. The uniform for that was of course silks and the majority of my income went towards the acquisition of silks from various stores throughout the grid. One of the stores that always remained on the top of my list was the beautiful Analise.

From the variety of colors to my most favorite, scripted skirts, Analise should be top on your list for silks as well. All of their skirts have the skirt removal script with various ways to rip them off, it’s quite entertaining (especially in a room full of 30 people, all of whom are click happy! )

My second favorite thing is the all amazing “bolly all the time” poses from my favorite pose store, Long Awkward Pose. I think Dove Swanson did a phenomenal job with these poses. I love them so much a few months back I did a short series of images using these bollywood poses. Each pose was set to a story highlighting a historical South Asian woman.

My last favorite thing for today is actually a sim (or two sims) that I discovered a few months back and I have returned there many times for photo opportunities. The Black and White Taj are loosely based on the Taj Mahal located in Agra, India.

As you can see from the pictures, it’s a gorgeous build. If you have not had the opportunity to go as of yet, I suggest you take the slurl, you won’t regret it!

StoRin

I had the opportunity to meet Annah Whitfield, designer and owner of the quaint little store StoRin, for the first time this week. Not only is she a talented content creator, but she’s one of the sweetest and friendliest people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting.

It was also my first time visiting her store and I was delighted to see all the beautiful designs. One dress in particular that caught my eye was the fabulous red dress named “Codie” that I completely fell in love with. When I realized it was named after Ms. Codebastard Redgrave herself, I knew exactly what jewelry to wear with it; the Codie Bijoux Rouge Set by Hibiscus Flossberg of Puarangi Designs .

Another thing I didn’t know about Annah is that she also makes poses (I know, I think I live under a rock, ). I especially loved her umbrella poses that came with this adorable little umbrella. The umbrella also comes with 9 different and very beautiful textures that you can choose from.

Along with her single poses, she also has a separate room full of many couples poses. This one is called the “Best Friends” pose. I’d like to thank Zaara Kohime for taking her time out to pose with me for this special pose. <3

Whippet & Buck

After a long and anticipated wait, Whippet & Buck opened their mainstore on May 5, 2009. Dakota Buck is the creative director and Twiggy Whippet is the designer of this stylish new store.

I recently had an opportunity to throw some questions at designer Twiggy Whippet.

Strawberry: Where does your inspiration come from?
Twiggy: It’s hard to pin-point any specific source of inspiration. We both devour as much vaguely fashion related content as possible. ‘Kota has an impressive collection of fashion magazines and I am an avid people watcher. A lot of inspiration comes from our city, Brisbane, as well and I hope that will come across in future pieces. The store itself was inspired by the classic “Queenslander” style houses in the area and I like to think that the conservative yet casual and artistic feel that I get from those houses translates into the clothing.

Strawberry: Are your products all hand drawn?
Twiggy: Each fabric textures is hand-created with a combination of stock photos, brushes and photoshop treatments and the rest is hand-drawn with mouse and tablet. The tartan pattern was hand-drawn as well because we wanted to have our own signature (and infinitely customisable) base. Some more signature patterns are in the works as well. The jewelry textures are also hand-drawn – it’s just easier to have exactly what you want if you create it yourself.

Strawberry: Do you have a creative professional background?
Twiggy: I’ve bounced around a bit in different creative and design-based jobs, mostly freelance. When ‘Kota and I first started working on W&B in 2007 it was just going to be jewelry and accessories sub-brand to Savvy? because I was fairly burnt out on photoshop at the time. After the project was shelved for a year and I’d switched jobs I decided that I wanted the design outlet again and here it is.

Whippet and Buck clothing has clean, crisp lines. These casual basics can easily be mixed and matched to fit a variety of looks and come in colors that are sure to suit everyone’s tastes.
